Grand Ronde, Oregon

Spirit Mountain Casino

Arnold and I had dinner at the Cedar Plank Buffet. Asian! International! Seafood! Italian! Salad/fruit bar! Desert! Something out of ordinary happened this evening. As you know, I am dairy allergic and it is always scary to eat out. Usually, I end up speaking to the manager and/or chef. I asked Doug about the ingredients of a few dishes. He offered to do something that a stranger has never done before. Doug cooked three plates of non-dairy food. The food melted in my mouth. It was superb.

Clams! Scallops! Steak! Mushrooms!

Steamed vegetables! Potatoes! Salmon!

Everything was so fresh and flavorful! Thousand thanks Doug! You made a difference in my life today!

Newport, Oregon

Where is everybody going?

To the Yaquina Head Lighthouse?

Why are there a crane and backhoe on the beach?

This is the 68-foot dock that washed up on Agate Beach in June.

The state of Oregon has decided to remove the dock. They began cutting the dock into five pieced. It was a lot of concrete and steel to cut through. It took a little longer than expected. Last piece of the dock was removed August 5th, 2012.

It was amazing to see this once in a life time event.

Several news reporters were following the progress.

Ohh... I forgot to mention, they are going to save a corner of the dock to use as a memorial to the victims of the tsunami.

Arnold's camera is a day off :))

Heceta Beach, Oregon

Heceta Head Lighthouse was covered in a black "mesh." Closed for renovation until August 2013.

Florence, Oregon

We pulled into the parking lot and heard a loud grinding sound. We looked underneath the motorhome. We could not see anything. Arnold thought the brakes had locked up. When we took off, we had no brakes at all. Used the hand-brake to stop. We parked the rig. The next day, Arnold took Sparkie for a walk and found the brake pad on the side of the road. The brake pad had jammed between the caliper and the aluminium wheel causing the grinding sound. Plus, creating a souvenir - an aluminium spiral strip, about a foot long.

Sparkie is enjoying his tipi.
